Welcome to Helen, Georgia

Welcome to Helen Georgia

Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, the German-inspired architecture and food of Helen has turned it into one of the region's more unique tourist towns. Hotels, restaurants and gift shops abound, but most of the daytime fun takes place out in nature. Oddly, the county's restriction on alcoholic beverages means it's difficult to get a good German beer with your meal. The one time of year that it's easy to find a drink is during the town's busiest festival, Oktoberfest. As this event takes place even as the leaves are changing color, it is the town's busiest time of year by far.

Bavarian Village

Faced with a dwindling population, the decision to remake Helen into a Bavarian Village in the heart of the Appalachians came when the town decided to focus its economy on tourism. The town's famous Oktoberfest is a huge draw for visitors, as is the numerous other festivals and events. Be sure to check our events page for more information on upcoming events.
